Roe V. Wade is Over.
I started becoming more vocal about abortion when New York State passed a law that would allow babies to be murder into the third trimester for “health” reasons. When they lit the Empire State Building up pink in celebration of passing the Reproductive Healthcare Act; I knew then I had to do something. That led to me starting RCAM. When I started creating content, I never thought I would actually see the day when Roe V. Wade was overturned, but here we are.
If you wanna read the opinion that led to overturning Roe V. Wade, you can find the full text of the opinion here.
It has been a long road to get here but it finally happened. Today we celebrate the end of a 50-year-long battle to preserve the lives of our most vulnerable. We celebrate victory in a fight we never should have had to begin with. We celebrate as millions of babies all over the country get an opportunity at this beautiful thing called life.
I have been against abortion ever since I was young. Even before I believed in God, I could recognize that it was wrong to end the life of an unborn baby. And now we’re here and it kind of seems surreal. I have spent a lot of time thinking about people who have been in this fight since day one. I was thinking about all the people that have gone before us praying for this day to come, praying for the lives of our unborn, and finally, those prayers are answered. Those people are heroic. In many ways, I feel like I’ve just joined this fight but I can recognize there have been people in this a heck of a lot longer than I have. People that have spent years in the trenches fighting for this day to come to fruition.
When I still lived in New York, I had the opportunity for a time to get to know some women who led a Crisis Pregnancy Center. They were committed to serving women and children in their community. They would provide counseling, diapers, formula, furniture, financial assistance, housing, and a whole host of other services to help these mothers in need. I also watched, week after week as they prayed for the women and children who were entering the Planned Parenthood across the street. They also prayed that Planned Parenthood would one day shut its doors. Little did I know, it wouldn’t be long before that happened. Shortly after the pandemic started, that very Planned Parenthood shut its door for good.
One thing we cannot underestimate is the power of prayer. It was one thing to see God answer the prayers to close this Planned Parenthood, it was something else entirely to see God answer the prayers of millions of people over the span of 50 years to bring about the end of Roe. God takes no delight in the shedding of innocent blood and I believe our prayers and lives of these innocent unborn babies cried out to Him and against all odds; He gave us this victory.
It really is quite incredible. Despite pro-abortion advocates holding nearly every lever of power; they were powerless to stop the overturning of Roe but little is much when God is in it.
I also just want to take the time to appreciate the odds we were up against. I mean there was a lot of buildup for this decision in the first place since there was an unprecedented leak with the draft decision. I believe this was done to intimidate the justice and man did they try. They protested outside their homes, firebombed pregnancy centers, made death threats and one man even made an assassination attempt on Justice Kavanaugh and yet all their efforts failed.
I love how God can take what was meant for evil and work it for good. I believe they thought the leak would pressure the justices to change course but I believe it only reinforced their decision. They didn’t bow down to the mob but stood in the face of tremendous adversity. Even now, there are threats of a “Night of Rage” but even in light of that; they did not waiver.
We aren’t scared. We aren’t intimidated because we know we aren’t fighting for our own rights but the rights of those who can’t speak for themselves. I believe many people are going to look back on this day and be blown away by the callousness of people’s hearts. People are gonna look back and wonder how people could have ever thought it was okay or even a good thing to take the life of a precious baby.
Obviously, we still have a lot of work to do. This is just the beginning. I personally, won’t be totally satisfied until abortion is abolished. This is one of the greatest human rights violations the world has ever seen and I can’t just turn a blind eye as other human beings are senselessly murdered in other states but that’s a battle for another day.
Today is a day of rejoicing; A day of celebrating the victory of a 50-year battle. You know, it’s days like today that give me hope that evil will not prevail. If we stand firm for what is right; God will come through. It’s something we should take solace in, especially since the world keeps getting darker and darker. Today life wins and that is something worth celebrating.
